Revitalise Your Day Take The 5-Minute Carpark Challenge for Stress Relief
A client asked me last week "How come you look so calm and together at school pick up?” I laughed and asked her what she was talking about she replied "I’m a mess and stressed with all the extra after school activities and I really just want to be home with a glass of red”
I smiled and replied “I meditate in the car before the bell goes. I allow my self 5 minutes it’s simple anyone can do it would you like me to show you?” She nodded
You see, taking just 5 minutes for a focused meditation can significantly impact your day. Imagine a brief meditation session in the car during school pick up, it serves as a powerful pause before the whirlwind of afternoon activities. Quietening the mind before a busy period allows you to be centred, enhancing your ability to navigate the upcoming challenges with clarity and composure.
So here it is a quick 5 minute meditation that you can do anywhere doesn’t matter if it’s in the carpark at work, school, shopping centre, sports stadium it literally can be done anywhere
Let’s begin. Sitting in your car turn the air conditioner on and up as high as it will go, set a timer for 5 minutes depending on how long you have nestle back into your seat close your eyes. If your worried about people looking put your glasses on and no one will notice your eyes are closed!
Focus on the sound of the air conditioner listen to it blow air out through the car. Focus on your breath, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. Continue breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. When thoughts come in to your mind acknowledge this, taking a deep breath in through your nose and breathe it out through your mouth. Letting go of anything that does not serve us or is needed as this present time.
If you feel your mind start to wonder focus again on the air conditioner listen to the air blowing out and focus on your breath breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. Continue this and when the timer goes off slowly begin to open your eyes. Thank your self and allow your self to be grateful for the time you have taken to calm you mind.
These short moments of mindfulness create a space for mental reset, helping you approach tasks with a refreshed perspective. By incorporating this practice into your routine, even for just a few minutes daily, you establish a healthy habit that positively influences your overall well being. The cumulative effect of these brief meditations, contributes to reduced stress, increased resilience, and improved focus throughout the day.
Holistically, the advantages extend beyond the immediate sense of calm. Regular, brief meditations foster emotional balance, enhance cognitive function, and promote a general sense of mindfulness. Embracing these moments of stillness can be a small yet powerful investment in your mental and emotional health, reaping benefits that extend far beyond the minutes spent in quiet contemplation.
